So many cool things happened this week, one of the days it looked like what the children called a festival of leaves, as so many leaves floated down on us during lunch!
What a wonderful start we had to our Wednesday morning! As we sat on circle outside Nora spotted a cement truck reversing down the driveway. We all watched as the driver negotiated reversing into the work site and all the way into what will one day be our new classroom. We watched with glee as the cement truck dumped cement into our soon to be classroom and then watched as they raked and spread the concrete. What a cool experience for everyone!!!
I asked the children if they were responsible for Thanksgiving dinner, where would they get their turkey and how would they cook it and would they have something else with it. Here are their entertaining responses.....I guess they won't be cooking this year!!!
Lila: I would get my turkey in a store, bake it in the oven for 1 minute. Would you have anything with the turkey Lila? .....Nothing but turkey!!!
Laban: I would get the turkey where the popsicles are, the guy gives it to you. Then bring it home and cook it for maybe 30 minutes and make sauce to go with it!
Kika: I would get my turkey in the store where you get chicken, roast it in the oven until it beeps and eat apples and cookie hearts with it!
Riki: I would get my turkey in the store, take it home and bake it for 10 minutes and just have turkey by itself!
Nora: I don't know where I would get a turkey actually....maybe a store? When I get it home I would play with it and then put it in a pan and cook it for 1, 2, 3, 4 minutes and eat chicken with it. I would have to turn off my favorite show....Charlie Brown while i cook it!
Lily: I would get my turkey from the grocery store, cook it in the oven for 10 minutes and then have a turkey sandwich!
Ava: I would get my turkey from the grocery store, cook it in the oven for 2 minutes and have salad with it.
Wall: I would get my turkey from where people all say thanks for dinner. I would celebrate with my Mom & Dad and my whole family. I would cook the turkey for maybe 10 seconds in the oven and have mashed potatoes and green beans with it.
Addie: I would get my turkey from the barn and bring it home and cook it in the oven for 16 minutes. I would eat chicken and broccoli with it.
Evie: I would get my turkey from the store and put it in a pan and cook it for a day. I would just have turkey.
James: I would buy a turkey from a shop. I would cook it in the oven for 50 days. I would just eat turkey!
Axel: I would get my turkey from a regular store. I would cook it in a pot for 2 minutes and eat mango with it.
Sammy: I would get my turkey from a farm. I would cook it in a pan for 2 minutes ad have broccoli and ham with it. That's it!
Magni: I would get my turkey from a store and bake it for 15 minutes and just eat turkey.
Percy: I usually have pumpkin pie! I would get my turkey from Food Lion, cook it in the microwave for 3 hours so it won't burn and eat it with sauce, ketchup and mustard.
Michael: I would get my turkey from a farm, cook it in the oven for 1 minute and eat oranges with it.
What a wonderful time we all had last night at the Variety Show. Primary as always did an amazing job! The children throughout the school that chose to perform all showed that they feel happy and content in their environment and they feel safe enough to put on a performance without fear of being judged. In today’s world this is such a beautiful thing to witness. I am so grateful that they are confident enough and feel loved and supported enough to do this!
This morning we said goodbye to our most beloved tree in the forest, it sits by our cottage and has given us so much joy through the years. We all took a moment to thank it and honor it for all it had provided for us and we hope to have more good times with the stump and logs that remain when it comes down.
We also took some moments this morning to discuss thanksgiving being a time to be grateful and to think about what we are grateful for. Everyone expressed what they are grateful for, many we’re grateful for family and friends. Many were grateful for their school and the earth! I am so grateful for the gift of your child each day, they are the joy that lights up my days. Thank you for sharing them with us and for choosing such an amazing school for them to be a part of.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.
