Spring is on the way. We have been admiring our outdoor environment as it changes. Blue Flowers, Forsythia, and pink flowers on the trees.
We had a visit from our Bee Keeper this week. We were outside having Mindfulness and took the moment to admire his work. He was getting the bee hive ready for Spring! He patiently walked us through every step!
The Bee Keeper used a smoker to calm the bees. He puffed smoke into the hive. The smoke makes the bees feel stressed; they feel the hive is burning. They begin to eat the honey in order to move the honey to a new location. The binge eating causes the bees to be lethargic. They are sleepy. The bees are also distracted by the concerns that the hive may need to be moved. This calms the bees and the Bee Keeper is able to work with them more easily.
The Bee Keeper brought the bees very close. We could see that there are hundreds of bees in our hive. He brought each piece over so we could observe. We looked at each one for the queen. We finally found her!
This was an exciting start to Spring! How lucky we were to be on the driveway on Monday morning!
