Lower Elementary always starts the year with orientation to the classroom. There is so much to learn (and re-learn) about the way things run in a Montessori classroom, in a Lower Elementary Montessori classroom, and in OUR Lower Elementary Montessori classroom. At the beginning of the year, we always spend much more time as a large group than at any other time of the year, because laying a solid foundation ensures success for the remainder of the school year. Learning and practicing norms, expectations, and routines are what the first few days of school are all about. Of course, we also got to reconnect with old friends, make some new ones, and even have a little (ok, maybe more than a little) fun, too. Here is a peek into our first week.
