Sustainability: Map and Compass

Our Middle School has begun its micronation project.  Mapping their “nation” is one aspect of this collaborative project.  Taking the theme of mapping school-wide, we started our study by discussing various types of maps and what important features are on a map.  We then took a closer look at topographic maps.  Fortunately, we have a topographic survey map of the Davidson Green School property, so students could read the map and see its corresponding land feature.  Students also learned how to use a compass to find north and the difference between magnetic north and true north.
