Upper El, Week of Dec. 2nd

Good afternoon!

We've had a great week back, reconnecting and sharing about our Thanksgiving holiday! Since we only have three weeks together before Winter Break, we hit the ground running on Monday, beginning new books, projects, and learning units. Please read about our current learning in the attached newsletter.

Next week, we will head to AR Workshop on Wednesday to create a decorative serving tray and a metal bracelet. Students have enjoyed selecting their designs and will learn how to use stains, paints, sanding tools, and Ms. Beth's cutting machine during our visit. We'll be there from 11:30-2:30, and will be back to school in time for regular dismissal.

Students have loved learning how to weave with Mr. Matt during his past few visits. Some of their practice projects may have come home, but we're excited to share our final Ojos de Dio with you at the Art Auction in February. They'll be beautiful!

We'll plan to hold a celebration on Friday, December 20th before heading out on Winter Break. Students plan these celebrations, and I look for every opportunity to tell them, "yes!" I'll be in touch with how you can support us with our celebration.

Thank you to families who have let us know of your pre-break travels. Advanced notice of your child missing school is greatly appreciated. Please know that in general, we do not send much work home with your child. We do work to support them to finish what they're able to prior to their departure, and we catch them up on lessons upon their return.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend and are able to swing by our tent at Christmas in Davidson!
